Welcome
Jennifer Steiner, Mrs. North Dakota America
Mrs. North Dakota America 2024
Mrs. North Dakota America 2024
At 22 years old, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. Life as I knew it came to a stop. This disease has shaped my life in some of the most beautiful ways, but it has also created many challenges. These hardships led me to start the See Me: Making the Invisible Visible initiative. Through this initiative I share information on invisible disabilities and open the conversation on how you can support someone struggling with an illness you can’t see.
I have spoken to over 400 high school and college students and have implemented the Hidden Disability Sunflower program in Fargo’s Hector airport with the goal of implementing it in all North Dakota airports.
I am driven to leave a legacy of compassion by spreading awareness and providing learning opportunities throughout North Dakota on hidden disabilities and making those living these invisible disabilities feel seen and valued.
If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appearance, feel free to contact me at jennsteiner74@gmail.com or social media (IG: @jsteiner2024). I am always open to new opportunities!
I would greatly appreciate your support on this journey to Mrs. America. Funds that are received will go toward the expenses of competing at the national pageant including required attire, fees and more. They will also help with travel expenses for appearances and Invisible Disability speaking opportunities.

As someone with an invisible disability, I provide interactive presentations to high school and college students on disabilities that can't be seen.
Invisible disabilities are a physical, mental, or neurological condition that is not visible from the outside, yet creates challenges to a person's movement, senses, or activities.
It is important for students to understand the person next to them may be struggling and I discuss ways they are help them.
Examples of Invisible Disabilities
Invisible disabilities can be temporary or permanent.
I believe students learn best through hands-on activities. In my presentations, we discuss invisible disabilities, my journey with Crohn's disease and my permanent ostomy. We conclude our sessions with a hands-on activity where students work with ostomy supplies. Many students will put them on their body to see how they feel!
If you are interested in scheduling a presentation at your school or business, please contact me at jennsteiner74@gmail.com.
Being an advocate for the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program is truly a passion for me. My mission is for all North Dakota commercial airports to implement this much needed program to ease the travel process for individuals who struggle with a hidden disability. I also hope to launch the program in towns, entertainment facilities, and schools throughout my state. We have successfully launched the program at Fargo’s Hector International Airport and I am in the process of connecting with airport director’s to see how we can make a difference and implement the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program.
Founded in the United Kingdom, this organization assists individuals with non-visible disabilities by discreetly signaling to others, using a sunflower, that they have a disability not immediately noticeable such as autism, dementia, mental health issues, or chronic illnesses. The sunflower symbol serves as a communication tool, particularly for those in customer service positions at the airport, alerting them that the wearer might require extra assistance, understanding or just more time.
I am driven to leave a legacy of compassion by spreading awareness and providing learning opportunities throughout North Dakota on hidden disabilities and making
those living these invisible disabilities feel seen and valued.
Contact me to learn more about the program and how to implement it in your business!
